Birding in Sewri

Bird watching is something like catching a glimpse of paradise and when one the most beautiful birds come visiting every year! Hallelujah!

There's enough information on Internet already to suggest what time is suitable if you plan to visit sewri mudflats and also what road to take. I would recommend 3-4 hours after high tide preferably when that happens around 4 pm. The flamingos generally flock far from the jetty in which case you may consider watching them from near the colgate factory gate.

It is possible to view flamingos from near the Tata chimney visible in the picture. There is another wharf in Mahul near the Tata power plant which is I guess 5 km from Sewri. Take the Mahul road to reach power plant and with some exploration you'll find the jetty that is owned by HP.You can walk some distance on the jetty before the gate, enough to get a nice view of the creek and hopefully flamingos.

You'll find shanks, lesser and greater egrets and many more birds here.
